Miami-Dade County Divorce & Family Law

Miami-Dade County is a melting pot and gateway to America from the Caribbean Basin and South and Central America. There are also strong showings of European, Middle Eastern and Asian cultures mixed in for good measure. Miller Law Associates represents clients from diverse backgrounds needing guidance and knowledgeable representation in navigating our unique legal system.

Miller Law Associates has multi-lingual counsel available to assist our Hispanic speaking clients.

Many of our clients started their divorce process at the Miami-Dade County family courthouse – Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center – Family Court Self Help Program, thinking it will be a simple, quick and inexpensive process. While the family court self help program is laudable, it is time consuming. It takes weeks to get an appointment and when you get to the family self help center there can be dozens or more people waiting in line (like a line at Disneyworld) before getting to see the clerk who sells them a packet of confusing and complex divorce papers/forms. All of these forms are available for free online, yet the self help clerk charges $50 or thereabouts. The packet of papers need to be taken home, completed, signed by both parties and then another appointment scheduled at the family self help center to be reviewed by another clerk. If there are errors that will delay the filing and processing of the case further. The case is not filed until the office part is done. Not until the case is filed can a hearing be scheduled. The process is lengthy, time consuming (so many trips to the Miami-Dade family courthouse) and frustrating for many.

We have boxes of "packets" purchased by clients from the family self help center who could not stand the waiting and who did not want to spend their lives at the self help center. These clients' cases are filed promptly and resolved timely with a minimum of down time. They let us do the work so they can get on with their lives.

Miller Law Associates' proven protocols distill each case to its essence and allow the lawyers to focus on getting our clients the reasonable results they want. A thorough evaluation of the facts of each case is where we start, followed by a thoughtful legal analysis and defining where the client wants to get to. Our efforts are driven to find the shortest distance between where the client is and where the client wants to end up. Our divorce and family lawyers are driven by results, which is what we found our clients want and deserve. Listening to what the client has to say is critical to the analysis.

Oftentimes, after we file a case or a defense on behalf of a client that has been served papers, if there is competent counsel representing the spouse, we are able to open a dialogue with an eye towards settling the case. Most of our cases do settle without the need for costly and drawn out litigation and contentious court hearings. However, when our client is in the right and the spouse is being difficult or has a lawyer who is fanning the flames or pouring gasoline on an already incendiary situation, we have the tools to fight as aggressively as the case requires. There is, after all, no substitute for experience and we have decades of tried and tested hard core courtroom experience, in Miami-Dade, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Key West, throughout Florida and in courtrooms in state and federal courthouses. Most family lawyers, we have found, are unprepared for the fight they get their clients into. We work hard at Miller Law Associates to be the best prepared lawyers in the courtroom.

There is no substitute for hard work and experience. Let the law team at Miller Law Associates work for you to get you the best result in your divorce or family law case.

Miller Law Associates also offers a 30 day No Court option.
