In Florida, to get married you need to buy a marriage license at the
courthouse (about $91), read a marriage
pamphlet and have a ceremony (Chapter
741, Florida Statutes). Marriage creates a legal relationship.
To get a Florida divorce, you need to go back to the courthouse
to file papers and pay a fee (about $364), and get the circuit court
judge assigned to the case to sign your final judgment of dissolution
(the divorce decree).
Once divorced, you are legally single.
