If you have kids through marriage and have gone through a divorce, it’s vital that you learn how to get along with your ex-partner on some level. You don’t need to be best friends with your ex, but your relationship needs to be amicable enough that it keeps things stable for your kids.
Here are some tips for getting along with your ex after a divorce.
- Never talk bad about your ex in front of your kids—Don’t ever talk bad about your ex in front of your kids. The other person is still a parent to those children, and they deserve to have a good relationship with both parents. Talking bad will only cause damage to your kids and lead to more fighting with your ex.
- Limit your time around your ex—If you had a particularly nasty divorce, try to limit the amount of time you have to be around your ex. Keep any conversations civil and focused on the important topic at hand.
- Get over it—At some point, you just have to get over it and move on with your life. Tough words, but true nonetheless.
